How much are 100,000 points worth?
The answer depends on how you use them. Let's look at the different options.
Option 1: Cash Back or Statement Credit
This is the easiest redemption. You can simply redeem your points for a statement credit or direct deposit into your bank account at 1 cent per point.
That means: 100,000 points = $1,000
Although it's simple and flexible, if your goal is to travel this is NOT the best value of your points.
Option 2: Book Through Chase Travel
Another option is booking flights, hotels, car rentals, and activities through the Chase Travel portal.
For beginners, this can be very convenient because it feels similar to Expedia or other online travel agencies.
However... this usually isn't my favorite way to redeem points.
In many cases, you'll need significantly more points than if you booked the exact same flight or hotel by transferring your points to a travel partner.
I personally recommend checking the travel portal first, then comparing it to the transfer partner price before booking.
Option 3: Transfer Points to Airline & Hotel Partners (My Favorite!)
This is where Chase Ultimate Rewards really shine.
Instead of booking through Chase, you can transfer your points directly to airline and hotel loyalty programs.
Transfers are generally at a 1:1 ratio, meaning:
1,000 Chase points = 1,000 airline miles or hotel points
Once transferred, you can book award travel directly through that airline or hotel program. Transfers are made in increments of 1,000 points and one-way (you can't transfer them back to Chase).
This is how some people regularly fly in business class or stay at luxury hotels for a fraction of the cash price.
